The boys basketball team traveled to Morristown for the semifinal matchup of the Shelby County Tournament Friday night. Due to COVID scheduling complications, the game also served as the teams’ Mid Hoosier Conference game.
The Jackets controlled the first half, limiting the Mohawks scoring with solid team defense. Jacobi Percell found some rhythm in the second quarter, netting 5 of his 12 points. Tyler Bowlby also chipped in 4 of his 8 points in the second quarter to keep the Mohawks within shouting distance at halftime, 31-16.
The Mohawks found some energy in the third quarter thanks largely to Bryce Yarling. He finished the night with a team high 19 points. Ethan Trueblood also found the shooting touch, adding 5 points in the half. After cutting the lead to as little as 6 points, the Mohawks fell short in the end, losing the game 55-47.
The Mohawks are in action next Friday at home vs. Oldenburg Academy. Keep an eye out for announcement regarding the attendance policy.
