The Mohawks varsity boys basketball team got their first win of the season in their first game of the season with a 74-62 win over Christel House Academy. Waldron got off to a slow start, falling behind 16-4 in the first quarter. The Mohawks calmed down, set into the game, and took control in the second quarter. A pair of 24-14 quarters with a halftime in between gave the Mohawks command of the contest.
Senior Cameron Wells led all scorers with 22 point. Junior Zane Smith chipped in 12 points, including a two-handed dunk that brought the whole gym to their feet while also grabbed 8 rebounds. Cole Adams started his senior season with 8 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Tyler Bowlby proved to be a vital contributor in his first high school basketball game with 8 points, 6 assists, and three rebounds.
Waldron is back in action at the Bud Brown Classic against Irvington Prep and then the winner of Muncie Burris and Delaware County Christian Academy. The first game is set for an 11 am tip.
