The Mohawks had no answer for Triton Central’s fast start, as TC opened up the first quarter with a 29-7 advantage. Waldron cut the lead to 15 by halftime, and lost by a final score of 77-66.

Sophomore Ethan Trueblood came in the second quarter and sparked the Mohawks, holding Triton Central’s leading scorer to only three made field goals in the last three periods. Trueblood tallied a career-high eight assists and scored four points. Senior Zane Smith started slow and got into foul trouble, getting his fourth foul early in the third quarter. Smith responded with a double-double in the second half alone, scoring 20 points, shooting 77% from the field, and grabbing 14 for the game. Sophomore Tyler Bowlby and junior Parker Huffman each scored 16 points for the Mohawks. Bowlby also grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists. Senior Cody Beal provided a big spark off the bench, scoring five points, grabbing four rebounds, and making some tough plays.

The Mohawks are back in action on Saturday night as they open up MHC play as they travel to Edinburgh to face the Lancers. Waldron and Edinburgh will play a junior high game starting at 6:00pm, with the varsity contest to follow.
