The Mohawks welcomed the Rising Sun Shiners to Waldron Saturday night in a non-conference game. The Shiners were terrific defensively all night, causing the Mohawks to have some troubles on offense early in the game. Rising Sun took a 21-12 lead at halftime.
The Mohawks showed some signs of life in the third quarter, cutting the Shiners lead to as low as six thanks to Shawn Cole and Ethan Trueblood three pointers in the third. However, the Shiners fought back, extending their lead to 11 points going into the fourth quarter.
The Mohawks came alive in the fourth quarter thanks to suffocating full court defense. The Shiners struggled to take care of the ball and the Mohawks capitalized. Cole was terrific in the fourth, scoring 10 of his team-high 15 points in the quarter. Caden Sheaffer was fantastic in the fourth, playing great defense and burying two three pointers. Free throws by Jacobi Percell and Tyler Bowlby sealed the win in the end.
The Mohawks next play Monday night at home against Liberty Christian.
