The Mohawks traveled west Saturday evening to face county rival Southwestern in the first of two match ups this season. The Mohawks started strong, getting 6 first quarter points from Tyler Bowlby. The Spartans answered in the second quarter, attacking the basket hard and earning 12 trips to the FT line. The Mohawks trailed 28 – 19 at the half. The third quarter was back and forth, but Waldron seemed to figure some things out offensively. 6 different players scored in the quarter including Jacobi Percell, who had a nice game scoring 8 points. After being down as much as 11 points, the Mohawks mounted a come back to tie the game down the stretch. In the end, the Spartans got the defensive stop they needed to win the game 55 – 53.
Tyler Bowlby led the Mohawks with 22 points. Others scoring for the Mohawks were Percell (8), Bryce Yarling (7), Ethan Trueblood and Shawn Cole (6), and JT Johns (4).
