Waldron traveled to Triton Central in a preview of their opening Shelby County tournament game. After getting down 11-3 early, the Mohawks continued to fight back to cut the deficit to 2 points at halftime. The second half was back and forth, with both teams playing physical basketball. Tyler Bowlby helped spark the Mohawks in the 3rd quarter, scoring 7 points and getting to the rim at will. JT Johns had a great game, scoring 18 points on 4-5 3pt FGs.
After regulation, the score remained tied at 38 sending the game into overtime. The Mohawks kept their poise in the extra period, netting 8 out of 10 FTs in the period. Some key baskets from Bowlby and Johns helped put the Mohawks on top for good. Shawn Cole iced the game late, hitting 4/4 FTs in overtime.
The Mohawks are back in action Saturday night in their first MHC Conference game at home against Edinburgh.
